Dial Indicator Kit with micrometer to check for "Soft Foot" and shaft/coupling "run out".
Always mic your precut shims to prevent "stacking" tolerances. Most shim manufacturers do not put the "actual" thickness stamp on the shim, only the professed thickness.
Check for shaft and coupling run out before you take your laser or dial readings. Bent shaft and out of round couplings could cause problems.
Check for "Soft foot" as well, position the dial over the foot and loosen the bolts one at a time. Your motor must rest on a "flat" plane before you start to precision align.
